Spaces' upcoming album 'Abol Tabol' comprising of select poems
from the book of the same name by the legendary Sukumar Ray.
Empty Spaces' Abol Tabol will be a fun-filled album featuring
well known poems from Sukumar Ray's Abol Tabol forged with Empty
Spaces' expertise in versatile music making to bring you an unique blend
of music and lyrics that is both modern and traditional at the same
time.
On a larger scale of things, besides paying a contemporary tribute to
Sukumar Ray, one of the major goals we have laid out for ourselves for
this album is to get the younger generation of Bengalis once again
interested in the rich literary heritage of the Bengali language, and to
try and fill the literary void that exists in the youth of today
towards the language. In this effort the album 'Abol Tabol' will not
only showcase the poetic brilliance of Sukumar Ray through his poems
but will also feature sounds from the roots of rural Bengal and
highlight the magical essence of being a Bengali, the essence that is
omnipresent in the hearts of all Bengalis right from Baruipur to Boston.
